Air Kiss: Revolutionizing Coffee Storage

Chao Shun Liang's Innovative Design Keeps Coffee Fresher for Longer

Chao Shun Liang's award-winning design, Air Kiss, redefines coffee storage. With its unique features, it aims to keep coffee beans fresh, while simplifying the coffee-making process. The design was awarded Silver in A' Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design Award in 2023.

Chao Shun Liang's inspiration for Air Kiss came from the common problem coffee lovers face - the staling of coffee beans once the bag is opened. The design aims to eliminate the frustration of coffee bag folding and the struggle to keep the beans fresh. With Air Kiss, it takes just one second to push the lid into the canister and another second to lift it.

What sets Air Kiss apart from other coffee bean canisters is its unique lid design. The lid maximizes the function of the one-way valve on the coffee bag, reducing the contact of coffee beans with oxygen. The airtight lid, ergonomically shaped, can be lifted with a single fingertip. The design ensures that the coffee beans breathe just enough to extend their flavor and aroma.

Air Kiss is made of borosilicate glass, known for its durability and thermal shock resistance. The airtight lid is made of food-grade silicone, compact with 18/8 stainless steel in the central touching area. All parts are recyclable and dishwasher safe, making the canister easy to clean.

The design comes in three sizes and can be stacked to save space. The interaction with the design is simple and efficient. The lid goes into the canister and 'kisses' the beans, squeezing out extra air and keeping them away from moisture. The lid's ergonomics convex top is designed for a fingertip to lift it up in just one second.

Chao Shun Liang's research highlighted the hassle of opening the coffee bag, grabbing the coffee beans, squeezing the extra air, and folding the bag back. Air Kiss eliminates these issues, keeping the coffee beans fresher for longer. The design will be launched in 2023, promising to revolutionize the way coffee lovers store their beans.
